Hi, I'm Melissa Greenberg, a school-based Speech Language Pathologist and creator of Bee Positive Speech Therapy. I currently work with children ages 6-14 who have various speech and language disorders. My goal is to provide creative, fun and easy activities that everyday speech therapists can use for their students. Since I started working for a private school 4 years ago, I have learned many new techniques and strategies to target specific speech-language goals. The key to success during sessions is to make it fun and interesting for the students. I found that creating my own activities relating to a specific theme work best. That's why each week I will post new activities, focusing on specific topics, themes and/or goals (i.e. holidays, seasons, etc.).
My Education and Experience
I received my Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the State University of New York at New Paltz in December 2009 and my Master's of Science from Adelphi University in January 2011. Shortly after I graduated, I began working at a private residential school in Yonkers, N.Y., working with children ages 6-14 who are emotionally disturbed and exhibit speech and language disorders, where I currently still work. I am a certified member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association with a speech-language licensure from the state of New York. I also hold a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) certificate from the state of New York, which qualifies me to provide speech language services in school settings. Starting in March 2014, I began working for an agency providing CPSE services to children ages 3-5 years. It has been a great experience thus far working with every child and I aim to learn more and improve my skills as a Speech therapist in order to see the positive success and achievement for my students.
I have named this blog “Bee Positive Speech Therapy” because I believe a true positive attitude during therapy will lead to success! My goal is to share some of my successful activities I have created over the years. Remember to Bee Positive!
